Airport Scanner Misused
The full body scanners installed in a selected number of airports in the UK have been a source of controversy ever since their installation. The gadgets that provide security workers with a detailed outline of the passenger, essentially a naked photo, have been making passengers very nervous indeed.
Now, the first ever police warning has been issued about them. An airport employee at Heathrow has used the scanner to secretly scan a female co-worker and take pictures. The female worker is said to be totally traumatised in a hypocritical statement given to the Sun newspaper. While Airport workers insist that the new scanner gadgets are no more an invasion of privacy than a bag search, if their own employees find it such a harrowing experience, how are the British public supposed to react?
