Plain Lazy Self Stirring Mug

Plain Lazy Self Stirring Mug
Well, now I’ve seen everything! The Lazy Self Stirring Mug which does exactly what it says on the tin! Battery powered and ideal as one of the many unique gifts one could think of for the perennially lazy person.

Now, call me old fashioned but I have never felt that I needed to build up my muscles to Mr. Universe standard in order to have enough strength to stir my own cuppa. It’s simple; you take a spoon, dip it in the tea and stir. You can go clockwise or anti-clockwise as the mood takes you. Hours of fun and no batteries in sight!

I don’t quite know where this laziness culture thing is taking us and quite frankly it worries me. Most of us spend far too long sitting in front of a computer and many of us then spend the rest of the time playing computer games of one sort of another.

The supermarkets shelves are full of "ready-prepared" stuff. Ready chopped vegetables, ready sliced fruit, ready made custard and so on and so forth. What could be simpler than taking a knife and chopping an onion? Okay I know it makes you cry but then you can pretend that you are some weeping heroine in a period costume dramatisation. No? Oh perhaps that’s only me then! My point is that these things are not difficult or particularly time-consuming and are often enjoyable and soothing to the troubled mind.

Are we all getting lazier I wonder or are we all just spending too much time working? Everyone watches and enjoys the many cookery based TV programmes but how many of us actually take the trouble to cook anything similar unless it’s for a special occasion. Even then I guess many of us would just go out to a restaurant anyway.

The older generation always seem to be busy and yes, I know that things take longer to do as you age but it’s not just that. My Mum and Dad, beautiful Betty and bossy Bora who are in their 70’s and 80’s respectively have just moved two large trees in their garden by hand and are now in the process of building a large shed. My Mum’s house sparkles and if you don’t move about a bit when you’re there you will most likely be dusted and polished like the rest of the inanimate objects! Dad is always inventing things and using up and recycling everything. He is a true Eco-warrior.

Perhaps we need to have a rethink but meanwhile I might just add this mug to my list of gifts for my Mum and Dad to give them a bit of a rest.
