By 2010 consumers in the UK will transfer £18.5 billion worth of spending to online retailers, which they would have previously spent in stores, according to research by Datamonitor. Visual equipment currently dominates the market, generating 62.7% of the market's value. The UK accounts for 14.6% of the global consumer electronics market (technology, gadgets and electrical goods). The report also warns that online retailers pose a growing threat to electrical retailers (whose main target audience is the gadgets consumer), with electrical e-retailers predicted to take £4.6 billion per year by 2010. The report also predicts the number of internet shoppers in the UK will rise to 25 million by 2010.
