Russian Dolls are a quintessential part of Russian traditional handicrafts. It is thought the first Russian Doll or Matryoshka doll dates from 1890 and was based on the traditional Japanese nesting dolls or possibly a Faberge egg from 1885 which consisted of a nesting egg, yolk, hen and crown.
With the Russian Doll painting kit it is possible to capture the essence of the Russian folklore for yourself. The kit contains a set of five nesting Matryoshka doll blanks. The dolls are pre printed with guidelines. The dolls can then be painted and varnished in a traditional style.
